Q. Does the Pokemon GO app have to be open to track egg hatching?
A. Yes. If you close the app it won't track the distance you walked.
Q. Is there a battery saver option?
A. Yes. go to your Menu > Settings and check Battery Saver. If you turn your phone upside down it will dim the brightness and save battery. You can walk around and it will track your distance.
Q. What does the colored ring around the Pokemon mean?
A. The color represents how difficult it is to catch that Pokemon and how rare the Pokemon is. The colors are Green, Yellow, and Red. Green being the easiest and red being the hardest.
Q. Why can't I sign into Pokemon GO?
A. The servers have probably crashed or under extreme load. Wait a while and try again.
Q. Why do I have to keep signing into Pokemon GO?
A. The servers go down fairly often. Each time they go down you need to sign back in.
Q. I can't see any Pokemon around me, will some spawn near me?
A. If you leave your phone on , plugged in and running the app, you will find Pokemon will eventually spawn on you without you actually moving. So I believe there is some sort of "timer" that if you haven't had an encounter for X time, the game spawns one near you. Credit to Reddit /u/PowerFang
A. At first it was thought to be completely random and no one had control over what their Eevee was going to evolve into. But it turns out we have control! The Eevee Brothersfrom the original anime were named Rainer, Pyro, Sparky and they owned a Vaporeon, Flareon, and Jolteon respectively. If you nickname your Eevee either Rainer, Pyro or Sparky, your Eevee will evolve into that desired Eeveelution!
Q. Should I power up my Pokemon or evolve them first?
A. Neither! Don't evolve or power up your Pokemon. Instead keep saving up your Pokemon until you get your first lucky egg (level 9, 10, and 15 you get free eggs). Wait until a 5k or 10k egg is about to hatch and then use the lucky egg. From here while the lucky egg is giving double XP evolve as many Pokemon as you can by transferring away all your spare doubles and using the candy you have built up. This will shoot you up a few levels in under 30 mins. When you are level 25+ then you can start to spend your stardust on your favorite Pokemon if you think it won't be wasted from catching the same Pokemon but at a higher CP later.
CP stays at the same percentage when evolving a Pokemon but evolved Pokemon can take more CP (Not 100% confirmed yet). So it could be best to max the CP of the non-evolved version first.
A. Prestige is like health points for your gym, when they get to zero your gym resets and can be claimed by another team. When prestige gets high enough, the level of your gym increase. When your gym level increases, it will take longer to take down.
Q. How do you defeat an enemy Gym?
A.You can use 6 Pokèmon to challenge an enemy gym. Defeating enemy Pokemon on the gym will lower the prestige of a gym, defeat all defending Pokemon will lower prestige by a lot, not quite sure what the exact numbers are.
Once you defeat the gym enough times, the level of the gym will decrease and it will kick the lowest ranking Pokemon, repeat until there are 0 pokemon/0 Prestige left to claim the gym.
Q. How do you train an friendly GYM?
A. You can only use one Pokemon to train on friendly gyms, the more Pokemon you defeat the more prestige the gym gets. I've also noticed that using a Pokemon with similar CP as the defending Pokemon will give a lot more prestige points (about 500).
Q. Why can I add my Pokemon to a friendly gym?
You can only have one Pokemon per person per gym. If you're unable to add a pokèmon to a friendly gym, you need to train the gym until it levels up and gains an empty slot. If you're not able to train the gym, because the defender is too strong you're in bad luck. That's why I always try to keep an empty slot on my gyms for other players!
